Welcome to Clarkesville!

Although Marco lives in New York, his books are set in Clarkesville (which he sometimes types as Clarksville, so don’t let that confuse you). Clarkesville morphs at random from a sleepy backwater to a sprawling megalopolis. Marco never describes anything, so we’ve taken a guess about how things might look.

Getting There

Marco only ever gets to Clarkesville one way- driving his black Range Rover with tinted windows down the N66. It’s a fictitious route, so he always has the highway to himself.

Police HQ

No Awful Truth novel would be complete without visits to Flora Moran’s lab, or a case conference where Como quizzes Kojak, Columbo, Starsky, Lundt, Maigret, Holmes and the rest of his crack detectives. Thanks to Marco’s legendary Photoshop skills, we have a convincing ‘virtual reality’ HQ to share with you…

Marco’s Apartment

According to his bio, Marco has an apartment in a stylish quarter of New York. Sadly, even after days of concerted effort, our exasperated researchers weren’t able to find a stylish quarter of New York, so here’s a picture of a nice building in England instead.

The Container Port

When someone finds a body crushed between two containers it’s Marco’s chance to go for a drive with the beautiful Harbour Master McBeany in one of those tall machines like a cross between a crane and a spider.

City Hall

City Hall is the only example of classical architecture in Clarkesville. Its massive portico is supported on slender columns topped with capitals of every classical order, including Corinthian, Doric, Ionic, Iconic and Ironic. Radio carbon dating shows the building to be at least thirty-five years old.
